Privacy Policy
Last updated October 23, 2026
The short version: ChatNano runs on your computer, and we don't collect your data.
- Your chats, the images you attach and your voice stay on your computer. They're never sent to us or anyone else.
- There's no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
- The app only goes online when you ask it to download a model.
This policy explains how ChatNano, the desktop app, and this website handle information. ChatNano is made by Engineered Sentience Technologies ("we", "us"). If anything here is unclear, write to [email protected].
What stays on your computer
Everything you do in ChatNano is processed and stored on your own computer:
- Chats: what you type, the model's replies and the chat titles it writes.
- Images you attach, paste or drop into a message.
- Voice calls: the app listens through your microphone only while a call is open. What you say is turned into text on your computer and saved in the chat, like a typed message. The sound of your voice isn't recorded or kept.
- Settings, such as which model you use and whether replies think first.
- The models themselves, once downloaded.
On Windows, your chats, images and settings are kept in the ChatNano folder inside your AppData folder
(%APPDATA%\ChatNano). You can delete a chat by right-clicking it in the sidebar. To remove
everything, uninstall ChatNano and delete that folder.
We can't see any of this. It isn't sent to us, so we have nothing to look at, share or sell.
When the app uses the internet
ChatNano needs the internet only to download a model, when you click Download in Settings. Models come from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), where we publish them, and the image-reading parts come from PrismML's pages there. Like any website, Hugging Face receives your IP address and the file you're downloading. Its handling of that is covered by the Hugging Face privacy policy. Nothing about you or your chats is sent with a download.
Once a model is downloaded, ChatNano works without the internet.
The Microsoft Store
If you get ChatNano from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles the purchase, installation and updates under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Microsoft gives us statistics such as how many people installed the app. If ChatNano crashes, Windows may send a crash report to Microsoft, depending on your Windows diagnostic settings, and Microsoft may make it available to us. We use crash reports only to find and fix bugs.
If you contact us
If you email us, for example to ask a question or report a reply that went wrong, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to answer you and to improve ChatNano, and we'll delete it if you ask.
This website
This site sets no cookies and has no analytics or tracking. It's hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks.
Children
ChatNano isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly receive information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 or the GDPR give you rights over your personal data, including to see it, correct it and have it deleted. Since ChatNano keeps your data on your own computer, you're already in full control of it. For anything we do hold, such as emails you've sent us, contact us and we'll help.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change affects what happens to your data, we'll say so in the app before it takes effect.
